We got the first gift off our registry today. Honest to goodness adult dishes. The whole marriage thing is really happening, and it is weird. In a good way, but weird nonetheless.
Moving over from the comments section on Fritzie's blog... Best of lists are pretty obligatory this time of year, so I am thowing mine out there. I will need to revist this tomorrow after I have a while to think about it...
My favorite movies this year: Volver, Notes on a Scandal, The Departed, The New World, Dave Chapelle's Bloc Party, The Last King of Scotland, Casino Royale
The worst films I saw this year: The Black Dahlia, Freedomland
Best books read, though they were not all published this year: The His Dark Materials Series by Phillip Pullman, The Darling by Russell Banks, Women Without Men by Sharnoosh Parsipur, Out by Natsuo Kirino, Snow by Orhan Pamuk, Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem, Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found by Suketu Mehta, Oracle Bones by Peter Hessler...uh, there were others, but I can't remember any more.
Music: I think I bought 2 cds this year, so I can't even pretend to make a list. best musical moments of the year were Kiki & Herb on B'way and Wynton Marsalis directing Lincoln Center Jazz 's tribute to Coltrane...and of course Evil Dead: The Musical
I just read that Scarlett Johannsen is recording an album comprised entirely of Tom Waits covers. This seems so very wrong to me.
Real life is too busy to really detail right now: parents in town this weekend meeting MLFH's parents for the FIRST TIME; possibly buying my wedding dress tomorrow; trying to find an officiant who will not mention god during the ceremony.
